Convert to x in terms of y.

3x + 6y = 12

Divide by 3.

x + 3y = 4

Subtract x.

3y = -x + 4

Divide by 3.

y = (-1/3)x + 4

The slope is -1/3 here. A parallel line would have the same slope.

So the slope of the parallel line is -1/3

Hope this helps
