How did the industrial revolution give an advantage to industrialized european nations over non-industrialized nations?

The industrial revolution was the process of transforming from a society dominated by agrarian and handicraft economy to manufacturing and machining.  This gave industrialized European nations a lot of advantage over the non-industrialized one. Examples are advanced forms of transportation, scientific inventions, and more jobs were created due to the rise of manufacturing plants.
