I would say some of the factors was; he chose his battles in what he fought for and knew what his purpose was of what he was fighting for. Reagan did his homework on what he stood for and made sure his claim was something he could explain. Reagan had a way about him a personality which is what truthfully a lot of people look for, he also moved the country to the right direction. Hope this helps some!
